and then discarded in a flow of water.
5.1.4 Rinse the glassware thoroughly with tap water before cleaning glassware.
5.1.5 Dip the glassware in solution of 0.5% Labolin or 5% Extran in water for 10-15 minutes. Scrub with
nylon brush under the flow of tap water.
5.1.6 Wash the glassware with tap water till it free from foam.
5.1.7 Finally rinse the glassware with purified water.
5.1.8 After washing, glassware shall be dried in glassware drying oven at 50±5°C before use.
5.1.9 During drying glass shall be placed in oven by keeping all the glassware in an inverted position and
allowing the water to come out.
5.2 Cleaning of pipette

5.3.3 Dip the vials and septum`s in solution of 0.5% Labolin or 5% Extran in 1 liter glass beaker for 30 minutes.
5.3.4 Wash the vials and septum`s with tap water till it free from foam.
5.3.5 Boil the vials in purified water for 1 hour.
5.3.6 Finally rinse the Vials and septum`s with purified water.
5.3.7 After washing Vials and septum`s shall be dried in drying oven at 50±5°C before use.
5.4 Whenever required, use Chromic acid mixture for cleaning as follows.
5.4.1 Chromic acid mixture preparation: Dissolve 200 gms of Potassium dichromate in 100 ml of
water-cooled in an ice bath. To this add very slowly 1500 ml of sulphuric acid with stirring and mix thoroughly.
Note: Chromic acid is highly corrosive wear rubber gloves, goggles during preparation.
5.4.2 Add a little quantity of chromic acid mixture in glassware and shake than wash thoroughly
with plenty of tap water and then follow from step 5.1.5 to 5.1.9.
5.4.3 New glassware shall be soaked for 1 to 2 hours in 1% v/v hydrochloric acid before washing as per step no. 5.1.5 to 5.1.9.
5.4.4 Stick stains such as grease etc. can be cleaned by 10% sodium carbonate solution or with acetone.
