Manager QC Implementation of SOP

4.0 Accountability
4.1 Manager Quality Control is accountable for implementation and compliance with SOP.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 Operation
5.1.1 Ensure that fuming chamber is clean and no other activity is under operation in chamber.
5.1.2 Open the glass door for the work by sliding up the door.
5.1.3 Push the green switch on the exhaust of the fuming chamber.
5.1.4 Connect the instrument (Muffle furnace etc.) with main power supply and others during the analysis.
5.1.5 Carry out the test as per standard test procedure in the chamber.
5.1.6 Fumigating solvent e.g. hydrochloric acid sulphuric acid and nitric acid on sand tray inside the fuming chamber.
5.1.7 Remove the test sample from chamber after analysis and close the front glass door.
5.1.8 After completion of work clean the chamber carefully.
5.1.9 Push the red switch off the exhaust of the fuming chamber.

5.2 Cleaning of Fuming Chamber
5.2.1 Proper functioning of fuming chamber is essential to maintain laboratory, pollution free operation.
5.2.2 Clean the exterior and top of the fume chamber, first by sweeping the top and dusting with cloth.
5.2.3 Shut off power supply from mains.
5.2.4 Clean the exhaust ducting with brush.
5.2.5 Clean the tube light and surface of fuming chamber with a piece of cloth.
5.2.6 Check the performance of these following point
5.2.6.1 Starter of exhaust fan
5.2.6.2 Performance of exhaust fan
5.2.6.3 Performance of tube light change if required
5.3 If the paint on interior surface has become dull or having stains, arrange for re-painting.

5.4 Calibration once in year
5.4.1 Fuming chamber calibrated by outside external calibration agencies.

5.5 Precaution
5.5.1 Ensure that there are no inflammable chemicals present in the chamber.
5.5.2 Clean the fume chamber after disconnecting all electrical connection.
5.5.3 Use strong Acid carefully in chamber.
5.5.4 Air exhaust should be on at the working time in fume chamber.
