Operating procedure of refrigerator

1.0 Purpose
1.1 To describe a procedure for operation Procedure of Refrigerator.

2.0 Scope
2.1 This standard operating procedure is applicable for operation Procedure of Refrigerator

located in Quality Control Laboratory at ABC Pvt. Ltd., Roorkee (UK), India.

3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Officer QC/ Executive QC Preparation of SOP and follow the procedure as per SOP
Assistant Manager Reviewing and Training of SOP
Manager QC Implementation of SOP

4.0 Accountability
4.1 Manager Quality Control is accountable for implementation and compliance with SOP.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 Operation
5.1.1 Ensure that the refrigerator should not be very near to the wall.
5.1.2 Connect the apparatus with main power supply. Switch ON from the mains.
5.1.3 Set the temperature in the freezer and refrigerator at cool condition 2-8°C by press

cool switch outside on the refrigerator.
5.1.4 Open the door of refrigerator; place the samples Reference Standards/Working standard

and Impurities etc. in refrigerator or in freezer as per the requirement.
5.1.5 Place a calibrated thermometer in the refrigerator daily and allow stabilizing the temperature

for 10-15 minutes, read the temperature of thermometer and record.
5.1.6 To make ice cubes, fill the ice tray with water and place it carefully in the freezer to avoid

the droplets of water on the floor.
5.1.7 Defrosting takes place automatically, and defrosted water flows down to the evaporating tray.
5.1.8 Report any discrepancy observed during operation of the instrument to Manager-QC or his

authorized representative, and notify the defect to Engineering Department/ Service Engineer to

rectify the defect. Affix ‘Under Maintenance’ label on the instrument.

5.2 Cleaning Procedure
5.2.1 Clean the externally with the help of clean dry cloth daily.
5.2.2 Once in a month, clean the inner surface of the refrigerator also.

5.3 Calibration
5.3.1 Once a year from outside agency.
