1.0 Purpose
1.1 To describe a procedure for Operation, Cleaning, and Maintenance of Safety shower and Eye washer.
2.0 Scope
2.1 This procedure is applicable for Water Safety shower and Eye washer used in Quality Control
department at A B C Pvt. Ltd. India.

4.0 Accountability
4.1 Manager Quality Control is accountable for implementation and compliance with SOP.
5.0 Procedure
5.1 Instrument Description
5.1.1 Purpose: – It is designed so as to wash eyes and body in case of any chemical spillage due to Chemicals or Acids.
5.2 Procedure
5.2.1 In case of any chemical spillage into the Eye, run to the eye washer in the wet lab and push the foot lever to operate.
5.2.2 Hold your eye on top of the Atomizer (Dual water tab) with your finger opening the eye lash.
5.2.3 Let the water flow into the eye and flush the eye for minimum 15 minutes.
5.2.4 After this if the eye is still irritating, consult to the doctor.
5.2.5 In case of chemical spillage on analyst body, move under the head shower unit and pull the front chain to operate.
5.2.6 Let the water flow down the analyst body (from head to toe) for at least 15 min.
and after that pull the backside chain to stop the water.
5.2.7 If required, in case of major spillage immediately consult the doctor after emergency shower.
5.2.8 After completion of washing pull the chain from back side to stop the water.
5.3 Cleaning
5.3.1 Clean the surface of the eye washer and shower using a damp cloth. If necessary, a mild detergent may be used.
5.4 Maintenance
5.4.1 In case of any problems and maintenance affix “UNDER MAINTENANCE” label with
date and time and inform maintenance person for further action.
5.4.2 After completion of maintenance work remove the “UNDER MAINTENANCE” label.
