sop for Operation and calibration of active air sampler
1.0 : OBJECTIVE :
To lay down a procedure for operation and calibration of active-air sampler.

4.0 : PROCEDURE
: PRE –CHECKS
4.1.1 : Before transferring the active-air sampler to the clean-area check the power-supply
and proper working of the active-air sampler.
4.2 : OPERATION:
4.2.1 : Connect the main power cord of active-air sampler with power board.
4.2.2 : Open the sterile mesh of the active-air sampler and place sterile plate inside the active-
air sampler and open the lid of the plate.
4.2.3 : Switch on the power button of the active-air sampler, green light will glow at the
power indicator.
4.2.4 : Press the ON button on the active-air sampler & set the timer to 200 seconds(to
sample 1000liters of air).
4.2.5 : By pressing the ON button ,green light will glow at the motor on indicator and
seconds clock starts .
4.2.6 : Come out of the area within ten seconds.
4.2.7 : The active-air sampler will sample the air of the location upto 200 seconds and
automatically stops after completion of 200 seconds.
4.2.8 : Cover the plate with lid and take out the plate from the sampler.
4.2.9 : Label the area and location number under the plate .
5.0 Calibration:
Fan-speed : 2400 RPM
5.1 : Connect the calibrated tachometer with the upper edge of the fan of active air sampler
and note the readings.
5.2 : Repeat the process for at least three times and note the readings in the format
5.3 : Limit : percent limit
5.4 : Affix calibration tag, if calibration is satisfactory and under maintenance if found
Unsatisfactory.
