Operating Procedure of Centrifuge

Operating Procedure of Centrifuge

1.0 Objective
To lay down a guidelines for operating procedure of Centrifuge in Quality Control Department.
2.0 Scope
This SOP applies to operating of Centrifuge used in Quality control Lab in abc company.
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Executive – Quality Control.
3.2 In charge/Head.
4.0 Abbreviations and Definitions
SOP : Standard Operating Procedure
QC : Quality Control
CC NO : Change Control Number
cGMP : Current Good Manufacturing Practice
O : Operational
5.0 Procedure
5.1 Centrifuge is used for separating the solution.
5.2 Clean the Centrifuge thoroughly.
5.3 Switch on the main supply, the red pilot lamp is now illuminated.
5.4 Place the rotor on to the centrifuge motor shaft and secure it by means of the captive nut supplied.
5.5 Fill the tube not exceeds the weight 25 gm. for each tube. All the buckets are placed in

the rotor even all of them are not needed for centrifuge.
5.6 Having correctly loaded the rotor with its component of tube and buckets, the centrifuge

can be started by first closing the centrifuge lid and then by moving the speed control

knob CLOCKWISE from the “O” position.
5.7 To stop centrifuge correctly, turn the speed control to “O” the centrifuge will de-accelerate and

eventually stop. When the rotor has come to a standstill (and not before) open the centrifuge

lid and remove the buckets and tubes.
6.0 Forms and Records
6.1 None.
7.0 Distribution
7.1 Master copy – Documentation Cell (Quality Assurance)
7.2 Control copy – Quality Assurance, Quality Control
