Operation and cleaning of sonicator

 

1.0 Purpose
1.1 To describe a procedure for operation and cleaning of Sonicator.

2.0 Scope
2.1 This procedure is applicable for operation and cleaning of sonicator located

at Quality Control Laboratory at ABC Pvt. Ltd.

3.0 Responsibility

4.0 Accountability
4.1 Manager Quality Control is accountable for implementation and compliance with SOP.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 Operation
5.1.1 Ensure that Purified water level up to the operating level and place the tray into the sonicator bath.
5.1.2 Connect the switch to main supply and on the switch.
5.1.3 Press ON/OFF key to start the sonicator provided on the front panel of instrument.
5.1.4 To adjust the time of sonicator Press (CHK) key then set the temperature with the help of UP and DOWN key.
5.1.5 Place the sample container to sonicate (i.e. volumetric flask etc.) into the water bath of the sonicator.
5.1.6 To start the heater (if necessary) press ON/OFF key of heater.
5.1.7 To re-start apparatus (if required), press again “ON/OFF” key.
5.1.8 As work is over, stop the instrument by pressing “ON/OFF” key, remove sample

from water bath of Sonicator.

5.2 Precautions Cleaning Procedure
5.2.1 Disconnect the apparatus from main power supply.
5.2.2 Clean the apparatus externally with the aid of clean dry cloth daily.
5.2.3 Once in a weak, remove the water from the tank of the apparatus, and clean with detergent

solution followed by water. Fill water in the tank up to the mark.
5.2.4 Quality Control Manager or his designee informs the Maintenance Department or

service engineer to rectify the defect. Affix ‘Under Maintenance’ label on the instrument
