1.0 Objective: To describe the procedure for operation and cleaning of colloid mill.
2.0 Scope: This procedure is applicable to colloid mill
3.0 Responsibility: Operator / Production Officer / Executive.
4.0 Accountability: Department Head shall be accountable for the compliance of the system.

 

5.0 Procedure:
5.1 Operation:
5.1.1 Check the cleanliness of the colloid mill. There should not be any traces of the
Previous product.
5.1.2 Close the outlet value of Colloid Mill.
5.1.3 Switch “ON” the main power supply of Colloid Mill.
5.1.4 Switch “ON” to start the Colloid Mill.
5.1.5 Fill the hopper with material as prescribed in the applicable BMR.
5.1.6 Continue the operation as mentioned in applicable BMR.
5.1.7 Open the outlet valve.
5.1.8 Collect the homogenized solution in a suitable container.
5.1.9 Continue the operation till the total material is processed.
5.1.10 Switch “OFF” the colloid mill.
5.1.11 Switch “OFF” the main power supply.
5.1.12 Affix “TO BE CLEANED” label on it.
5.2 Cleaning: [ For Product Change]
5.2.1 Ensure that power supply to the machine is disconnected.
5.2.2 Pour general water in it and switch “ON” the machine and let the liquid to circulate for few
minutes and then drain it.
5.2.3 Scrub the inner surface of the feed hopper and SS pipe with nylon scrubber till it is
clean. Pour hot water in it and switch “ON” the machine and let the liquid to circulate for few minutes and then drain it.
5.2.4 Pour purified water in it and switch “ON” the machine and let the liquid to circulate for few minutes and then drain it and continue the process till to get the clear water.
5.2.5 Swipe the water with a clean dry lint free cloth.
5.2.6 Clean the remaining parts of the machine with a wet cloth followed by clean dry lint free cloth.
5.2.7 Clean the electric parts of the machine with dry cloth.
5.2.8 Clean the surrounding area.
5.3 Cleaning: [For Batch Change]
5.3.1 Ensure that power supply to the machine is disconnected.
5.3.2 Clean the outer surface of the machine with wet cloth and then dry lint free cloth.
5.3.3 Clean the surrounding area.
