1.0 OBJECTIVE
1.1 To describe a procedure for cleaning and sanitization of drains. Regular and frequent cleaning and sanitization is essential in order to reduce the level of contaminating micro-organisms and to create a safe environment.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure is applicable to all drains of the Factory for general cleaning and sanitization.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 House Keeping Staff: Responsible for effective cleaning of Drains.
3.2 HR Officer/ Executive and Respective Department : Ensure the Cleaning and Sanitization shall
Perform as per SOP.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1 HR Head: accountable the compliance of this procedure.
5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Note:
5.1.1 Cleaning solutions and disinfectant solutions should be prepared and handled as per procedure of “Preparation, Storage & Issuance of cleaning, sanitizing & disinfectant solutions”, SOP No
5.2 Clean the drainage daily at the end of the day.
5.3 Remove the cover of drainage point and clean it by scrubbing with 0.1% v/v teepol solution using nylon brush.
5.4 Flush the drain with sufficient purified water till froth is removed.
5.5 Flush the drain with disinfectant. Place disinfectant solution in the bowl and place the lid on the drain.
5.6 The following solution should be used.

5.7 Record the same in the format ‘Drain Cleaning, sanitization and Disinfection Record’, Format No.
5.8 Record the consumption of Solutions as per format “Consumption Record of Cleaning And Disinfectant solution” Format No.
6.0 TRAINING
6.1 Trainer – Head of department.
6.2 Trainee – All concern person.
6.3 Period – One hour or as per required.
7.0 DISTRIBUTION
7.1 One set of master copy & controlled copy submitted the quality assurance department.
