Operation cleaning and maintenance of water purification system

 

1.0 Purpose
1.1 To describe a procedure for Operation, Cleaning, and Maintenance of Water Purification System.

2.0 Scope
2.1 This procedure is applicable for Water Purification System used in Quality Control department at ABC Pvt. Ltd.

3.0 Responsibility
Officer QC/ Executive QC Preparation of SOP and follow the procedure as per SOP
Assistant Manager Reviewing and Training of SOP
Manager QC Implementation of SOP
4.0 Accountability
4.1 Manager Quality Control is accountable for implementation and compliance with SOP.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 Instrument Description
5.1.1 Purpose: To get highly pure water for HPLC and Reagent Preparation.
5.1.2 Type of Operation: Semi Automatic and Fully Automatic Continuously.
5.1.3 Production Flow Rate: 10 Liter/hour

5.2 Precaution
5.2.1 Do not turn off the power to the Milli-Q System when it is not used for a long time.
5.2.2 Do not remove the covers of the Milli-Q System at any time.
5.2.3 Water pressure should be always more than 2Kg/cm2.
5.2.4 Do not split the water on the keyboard.

5.3 Operation
5.3.1 Switch on the instrument from main power supply.
5.3.2 Self test will start and the screen will show message “Integrality checking please wait”.
5.3.3 Wait for 2 minutes for self testing.
5.3.4 After self testing main screen will appear.
5.3.5 It shows the current date, time and instrument status (either it is ready or standby) mode as shown below
5.3.6 Select the Ready mode by pressing, the instrument will start automatically.
5.3.7 Dispensing Water:
5.3.8 Make sure the Milli-Q System is in READY mode for the dispensing of water.
5.3.9 Select the Recirculation and press key.
5.3.10 Wait until the product water quality is optimized. Than press key.
5.3.11 Press down on the POD Unit plunger while In ready mode.

5.4 Volumetric Dispensing
5.4.1 Make sure the Milli – Q System is in ready mode.

5.4.2 Select the Volume and press key.
5.4.3 Select the desired volume of water to be delivered. Than press √ .
5.4.4 When the volumetric dispensing is finished, the system recirculates water for 3 minutes.
5.4.5 The system stops re-circulating water.

5.5 Viewing Water Quality (Milli-Q Water)
5.5.1 Make sure the Milli-Q system is in ready mode.
5.5.2 Select Menu and press .
5.5.3 Select the Milli-Q water quality and press .
5.5.4 Press three times to go the main screen.
5.5.5 Acceptance Criteria for Milli-Q water as per as table.

5.6 Cleaning Procedure
5.6.1 Disconnect the Instrument from main power supply.
5.6.2 Clean the instrument externally with clean dry cloth daily.
5.6.3 Cleaning of water tank shall be done after 15 days and clean with wet cloth soaked in hot water.
5.6.4 Enter the details of the Cleaning of water tank cleaning record as per Annexure I.

5.7 Maintenance
5.7.1 Report any discrepancy observed during operation of the instrument to Manager-QC or his

authorized representative, and notify the defect to Engineering Department/ Service Engineer to

rectify the defect. Affix ‘Under Maintenance’ label on the instrument.
5.7.2 After the problem has been rectified, remove the “UNDER MAINTENANCE” label.
