sop for cleaning of factory premises

1.0 OBJECTIVE 
1.1 To describe a procedure for cleaning and sanitization of the factory to remove the dust, dirt and reduce the level of microorganisms for a clean and safe environment leading to a good quality product.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure applies to all areas excluding core areas of the factory.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 HR officer/ designee: responsible for monitoring cleaning and sanitization of factory.
3.2 Respective Department Head/ Designee: responsible for monitoring their area for effective cleaning and sanitization.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY
4.1 Head –HR shall responsible for compliance with this procedure.
5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Definition-
5.1.1 Cleaning:
Removing dirt, debris and germs by scrubbing or washing with cleaning agent and water.
5.1.2 Sanitization:
Reducing the number of disease causing germs to a “safe level” by using one of the disinfectant solutions.
5.2 Details of Cleaning agent
5.2.1 Teepol solution :- 0.1% concentration of teepol solution are used for the purpose of
cleaning of equipments parts, floors, sinks etc.
5.3 Details of disinfectant agent
5.3.1 Disinfectant solutions destroy micro-organisms and thus reduce the bio-burden.
5.3.2 Disinfectants should be used in rotation to avoid development of resistant micro-
organisms. Care should be taken to ensure that the disinfectants does not cause
corrosion, or discoloration of metal surfaces, paint work or flooring.

5.4 Procedure for preparation and issuance of cleaning and disinfectant Solutions-
5.4.1 Preparation of cleaning solutions (0.1%v/v Teepol Solution):
5.4.1.1 Prepare the 0.1%v/v of teepol solution as per the SOP for ‘Preparation, storage and issuance of disinfectant solution’ SOP No.
5.4.1.2 Issue the cleaning solution from Production general and affix cleaning the status label to container of the respective solutions as per Format ‘Solution Preparation Label’ Format No.
5.4.2 Preparation of disinfectant solutions:
5.4.2.1 Prepare the 0.5% Microlyse and 2.5% Savinox Plus as per SOP for ‘Preparation, Storage and Issuance of Disinfectant Solution’ SOP No.
5.4.2.2 Person who prepares the disinfectant solution shall affix the status label to container of the respective solutions as per Format ‘Solution Preparation Label’ Format No.
5.4.3 Issuance of Cleaning and Disinfectant solutions:
5.4.3.1 HR officer/executive shall maintain the consumption record of cleaning and disinfectant solution as per Format ‘Consumption Record for Cleaning and Disinfectant solutions’ Format No.

5.5 Schedule of sanitization-
5.5.1 After cleaning use the disinfectant for sanitization. The following solutions should be used:

5.6 Each department is responsible for keeping the area clean and maintaining good housekeeping practices.
5.7 The housekeeping staff provides support for cleaning and sanitization of all the areas. Every area should be cleaned as per respective procedure.
5.8 Cleaning and sanitization of floor:
5.8.1 Floor cleaning and sanitization:
5.8.1.1 Mop the floor with 0.1% teepol solution of cleaning agent and Savinox Plus 2.5% v/v or Microlyse 0.5% v/v solution of disinfectant agent.
5.8.1.4 Frequency: Twice a day and as per requirement.
5.8.1.5 Record the details of daily cleaning as per format ‘Daily Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No.
5.8.2 Floor cleaning and sanitization by manually mopping : (Alternative Method)
5.8.2.1 Take the clean drum (Indentify the drum status level of cleaning agent).
5.8.2.2 Take the solution for cleaning with the help of jug in small bucket.
5.8.2.3 Dip the clean mopping cloth into the bucket and squeeze it. Wipe the floor with mopping cloth in straight directions.
5.8.2.4 Squeeze the mop in bucket for collection of dirty water/waste water.
5.8.2.5 Then deep the mop in the bucket containing cleaning solution and applies the mop in the floor surface in straight direction and again squeezes the mop in bucket for collection of dirty water/ waste water.

5.8.2.6 Record the details of daily cleaning as per format ‘Daily Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No.
5.8.3 Disinfection of floor :
5.8.3.1 Take two clean drums for disinfectant solution. Indentify the drum A (Microlyse 0.5%) and other drum B (Savinox Plus 2.5%).
5.8.3.2 Take the solution for cleaning with the help of jug in small bucket.
5.8.3.2 Deep the mop in the bucket containing disinfectant solution and applies the mop in the floor surface in straight direction. Allow it to remain in contact for 7-10seconds and squeezes the mop in bucket for collection of dirty water/ waste water.
5.8.3.3 Ensure the dry status of the floor and record the details in the format ‘Daily Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No.
5.9 Doors, view panels:
5.9.1 Door, view panels should be cleaned and disinfected daily with lint free cloth wetted with disinfectant solution.
5.9.2 Frequency: Daily and as per requirement.
5.9.3 Record the details of daily cleaning and sanitization as per format ‘Daily Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No.
5.10 Cleaning of wall and ceiling:
5.10.1 Clean the wall and ceiling with the help of vacuum cleaner.
5.10.2 Wipe the wall and ceiling with the help of clean and dry lint free cloth.
5.10.3 Frequency: Once in a week and as per requirement.
5.10.4 Record the details of sanitization as per format ‘Weekly Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No
5.11 Staircase and space below the staircase:
5.11.1 Steps of staircase should be cleaned and sanitized as per procedure of cleaning and sanitization of floor.
5.11.2 Frequency: Twice a day and as per requirement.
5.11.3 Record the details of daily cleaning and sanitization as per format ‘Daily Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No.
5.12 Walkways, periphery of building (Factory surrounding):
5.12.1 Walkways, periphery of the building and factory surrounding should be cleaned daily by moping.
5.12.2 Walkways, periphery of the building and factory surrounding should be cleaned daily by copious water fortnightly.
5.12.3 Record the details of cleaning of walkways, periphery of the building and factory surrounding as per format ‘Factory Outside Area -Cleaning Record’, Format No.
5.13 Tables, chairs, cupboards, racks, furniture:
5.13.1 Tables, chairs, cupboards, racks, furniture should be cleaned daily and as per requirement.
5.13.2 First clean the tables, chairs, cupboards, racks, furniture, etc. by using vacuum cleaner or dry clean cloth or napkin Then wipe the tables, chairs, cupboards, racks, furniture, etc. with cotton cloth moistened with raw water and finally disinfect it by wiping with the cotton cloth moisten with disinfectant solution.
5.13.3 Record the details of daily cleaning and sanitization as per format ‘Daily Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No.
5.14 Light fixtures:
5.14.1 Light fixtures should be wiped weekly by using cleaned soft dry cloth.
5.15 Drains:
5.15.1 Cleaning and disinfection of drains should be performed as per procedure of ‘Cleaning, sanitization and disinfection of drains’, SOP No.
5.16 Toilets, urinals and sinks should be cleaned with 0.1 % v/v teepol solution and water.
The toilets and urinals must be sanitized by using disinfectant solutions as per SOP for ‘Cleaning and sanitization of factory toilets’, SOP No.
5.17 Terrace:
5.17.1 Clean the terrace with the help of vacuum cleaner or with nylon broom
5.17.2 Clean the terrace by pouring 0.1 % v/v teepol solution. Brush off the terrace with the help of nylon broom. Pour copious water. Brush off the terrace and remove the water through the drain.
5.17.3 Repeat the procedure until the froth is removed.
5.17.4 Frequency: Weekly
5.17.5 Record the details of cleaning as per format ‘Weekly Cleaning and Sanitization Record’, Format No.
5.18 Waste bin:
5.18.1 Clean all waste bins twice a day.
5.18.2 Discard the waste collected in the waste bin in a designated area.
5.18.3 Clean the waste bin along with lid with the help of 0.1 % v/v of teepol solution.
5.18.4 Scrub the waste bin and lid from inner and from the outer side and wash by using water.
5.18.5 Ensure that the waste bin is cleaned by visual inspection. If waste bin is not clean,
Then clean the waste bin 0.1% teepol solution.
5.18.6 Record the details as per format ‘Daily Cleaning and Sanitization Record’,

6.0 TRAINING
6.1 Trainer – Head of department.
6.2 Trainee – All concern person.
6.3 Period – One hour or as per required.
7.0 DISTRIBUTION
7.1 One set of master copy & controlled copy submitted the quality assurance department.
