1.0 Purpose
1.1 To describe a procedure for operation and cleaning of water bath.
2.0 Scope
2.1 This standard operating procedure is applicable for operation and cleaning of water bath at
Chemical Analysis Room in Quality Control department at ABC Pvt. Ltd.
3.0 Responsibility

4.0 Accountability
Manager Quality Control is accountable for implementation and compliance with SOP.
5.0 Procedure
5.1 Operation
5.1.1 Clean the instrument with clean and dry cloth. If required use the wet cloth followed dry cloth.
5.1.2 Ensure that power supply should be OFF from main supply.
5.1.3 Fill the sufficient purified water into the water bath so that heater is merged and at
least water level is 2 cm above the heater.
5.1.4 Switch ON the Water Bath from the main supply of power.
5.1.5 Close the all holes with lids of water bath.
5.1.6 Wait till boil the water and than in use.
5.2 Cleaning
5.2.1 For cleaning the bath change the water weekly basis or as required
5.2.2 Drain the previously filled water
5.2.3 Clean the bath with 2% liquid soap & rinse with potable water & purified water respectively.
5.3 Precaution
5.3.1 Handle the instrument properly.
5.3.2 Do not start the heater if there is no water in the Water Bath.
5.3.3 The water bath should be filled with purified water only.
5.3.4 Quality control Manager or his designee informs the defect to maintenance department to
rectify the problem. Affix Under Maintenance label on the instrument.
