Discard of Scrap From Warehouse

1.0 Objective
To lay down a procedure for discard of scrap from warehouse.
2.0 Scope
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for discard of scrap from warehouse to be

followed at formulation plants of abc company.
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Officer/Executive warehouse shall be responsible for discard of Scrap from Warehouse.
3.2 Head Warehouse is responsible for implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA or his designee shall be responsible for compliance of this SOP.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 Warehouse personnel shall keep the container to collect the scrap from various location of Warehouse.
5.2 The scrap shall be kept in poly bag, for easy disposal and labeled as “Scrap” refer SOP No.
5.3 Warehouse personnel shall fill the “Scrap Transfer Form” and take the signature of QA personnel

and hand over to housekeeping personnel for transfer to the scrap yard.
5.4 For hazardous type of scrap separate containers shall be designated; with a caution “Hazardous

Waste Handle with Care” shall be printed.
5.5 Hazardous waste/scrap shall be shifted to scrap yard in closed containers and shall be stored at designated

place in scrap yard.
5.6 House keeping personnel shall wear the safety aid i.e. rubber hand gloves, nose mask while shifting

the scrap in to scrap yard.
5.7 Other miscellaneous scrap shall be shifted to scrap yard in a designated place for each type of scrap.
5.8 The scrap material shall be disposed off through outside agency as and when required.
