1.0 OBJECTIVE
1.1 To lay down a procedure for Cleaning and Operation of Sieve Shaker.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure is applicable Cleaning and Operation of Sieve Shaker in Quality Control Department
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Officer / Executive to follow up the procedure for Cleaning and Operation of Sieve shaker .
3.2 Asst.Manager/Manager to ensure proper Cleaning and Operation of Sieve shaker.
3.3 AGM –QC to ensure compliance of this SOP.

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Cleaning Procedure
5.1.1 Clean the Sieve Shaker with clean dry lint free cloth before and after each use.
5.1.2 Clean the used Sieves by tap water and finally rinse by Purified water.
5.2 Operating Procedure
5.2.1 Collect the required sieves as given in respective Method of Analysis.
5.2.2 Ensure the cleanness of the Sieve and arrange in descending order as directed in the individual monograph or method of analysis.
5.2.3 Arrange collecting vessel in the bottom of the Sieve shaker for collection of powder passes through sieves.
5.2.4 Adjust all required sieves on the instrument and fit with help of rod and stud.
5.2.5 Weigh the substance accurately about 20 grams or as per given in the method of Analysis and transfer in the uppermost sieve and close the lid properly.
5.2.6 Switch “ON” the main power supply followed by switch “ON” the instrument.
5.2.7 Operate the instrument for about 5 minutes, or as directed in the method of analysis, set time through knob given in the sieve shaker.
5.2.8 After completion of the time, switch “OFF” the instrument and main power supply.
5.2.9 Collect the retained material from different sieve and weigh.
5.2.10 Calculate the result and enter the data in work sheet.
5.2.11 Record shall be maintained for maintenance activities as per SOP
5.3 Safety and Precaution
5.3.1 Do not use any acid or base for washing of Sieves.
5.3.2 Do not scratch the Sieves by metallic brush.
5.3.3 Properly close the lid before starting of instrument.
5.3.4 Do not touch Sieves before completion of given set time period.
