Cleaning Operation and Calibration of Melting Point
1.0 OBJECTIVE
1.1 To lay down a procedure for Operation, Cleaning and Calibration of Instrument in Quality Control Department.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure is applicable for Cleaning, Operation and Calibration of Melting Point.

5.0 Procedure
5.1.1 Switch ON the instrument.
5.1.2 Insert the capillary filled with sample in the chamber.
5.1.3 Press START to run.
5.1.4 Watch carefully on the thermometer till the material melt.
5.1.5 Switch off the Instrument after operation.
5.2 CLEANING PROCEDURE
Frequency: Daily or after each use.
5.2.1 Clean the front part of the instrument.
5.2.2 Wipe out any material in the capillary / sample holder assembly by means of tissue paper.
5.2.3 Clean all the accessories (visualising camera lens) with tissue paper after analysis.
5.2.4 Clean the outer surface of the instrument with dry cotton cloth.
5.3 CALLIBRATION PROCEDURE
Frequency: Once in a month.
5.3.1 Ensure that all the connections of the instrument are proper.
5.3.2 Operate the instrument as per the operating instructions and determine the melting point of the following
reference substances.
5.3.3 Take the reference substances from lowest range to highest range at a time for calibration.
5.4 Acceptance criteria:
5.4.1 The melting point of the reference substances should be within the standard range.
