Cleaning and operation of Magnetic Stirrer
1.0 OBJECTIVE To provide the procedure of Cleaning and operation of Instrument in
Quality Control Department.
2.0 SCOPE This procedure is applicable for Cleaning and operation of Magnetic Stirrer

5.0 Procedure
5.1.1 Connect the power cord of the Magnetic Stirrer to the main supply.
5.1.2 Switch on the main supply and press the button to on position, observe that the indicating lamp
glows up.
5.1.3 Place the glass beaker/flask containing media on the top plate center.
5.1.4 Place the Teflon coated magnetic needle in the flask containing media.
5.1.5 Select the LOW or HIGH speed by using the toggle switch, select LOW if the media is thin and HIGH if the media is thick.
5.1.6 Regulate the speed by turning the speed knob towards right, from minimum up to the required.
5.1.7 Simultaneously if the heating is required it can be done by turning the heater regulator knob towards right from the minimum to maximum up to the desire temperature.
5.1.8 For proper mixing or dissolution, the magnetic needle can be rotated in clockwise or anticlockwise direction by using toggle switch.
5.1.9 If stirring is to hold for a while without stopping this can be done by using reset button.
5.1.10 After mixing the media the press the button to off position.
5.1.11 Keep all the knobs to minimum position.
5.1.12 witch off the main after completion.
5.2 Cleaning
5.2.1 Ensure that the power supply is off.
5.2.2 Clean the Magnetic stirrer with lint free cloth followed by 70% filtered IPA.
5.2.3 SAFETY & PRECAUTIONS
5.2.4 Before cleaning or any maintenance remove the power supply cord of the Magnetic Stirrer from the main supply.
5.2.5 Don’t touch the instrument directly during operational condition.
5.2.6 Do not keep very large amount on it.
