1.0 OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this Sop is:
1.1 To lay down the operation procedure for Rub Proofness Tester
2.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
2.1 The Officer / Assistant – Quality Control Packaging shall be:
2.1.1 Responsible for operating the instrument as per Procedure.
3.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:

4.0 PROCEDURE:
4.1 CLEANING PROCEDURE:
4.1.1 Switch off the power supply before cleaning. Clean the rub proofness tester
with a dry clean cloth before and after use. Occasionally use wet cloth immediately followed by dry cloth.
4.2 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
4.2.1 Cut the printed material in two circular specimens
(according to the profiles available with the equipment), these samples are to be free
from folds, wrinkles, dirt and dust.
4.2.2 Attach the bigger specimen on the top of the rotating table with the printing facing upwards.
Attach the smaller specimen to bottom of the sponge attached to the other rotating disc
such that the printing is facing downwards, Bring the surfaces in contact with each other,
put on the weights (2 lbs) bring the counter to zero.
4.2.3 In case if sample specimen is smaller in size then use plain bigger specimen to
place on a rotating table.
4.2.4 Switch on the power supply.
4.2.5 Start the machine; the counter will indicate the number of rotations.
4.2.6 After the 60 rotations stop the machine, check the printed surface visually for
any abrasion or scratches which resulted from the rotation.
4.2.7 Take out the sample from retaining ring.
4.3 Acceptance criteria:
4.3.1 No scratches, no text rubbed off, no any print rubbed off.
5.0 REASON FOR REVISION:
This procedure is modified in order to be more effective in the line of action; responsibility, detailed operating procedure.
