1.1 To describe a procedure for water sampling and analysis.

2.1 This procedure is applicable to the Quality control department

5.0 PROCEDURE

5.1 Following type of water are to be collected from:

 

Type of water
Raw Water
Purified Water
Treated (RO) Water
Water for injection

5.2. Preparation for sampling :

5.2.1 QC chemist / Officer shall collect sufficient number of sample bottles according to the sampling plan as per Format
5.2.2 QC chemist / Officer shall carry particle free bottles to collect water samples for testing.

5.2.3 QC chemist / Officer shall make that sure the required number of sampling bottles are available.

5.2.4 QC chemist / Officer shall ensure that all the bottles are properly capped and bottles are segregated as per the requirement.
5.3 Sample quantity of purified water to be collected 1000ml for testing respectively chemical testing 800 ml & Microbiological testing 200 ml from each sampling point.

5.4 Sampling Procedure & Precautions:

5.4.1 QC chemist / Officer shall collect all the sufficient bottles and go to the sampling sites with sampling kit.

5.4.2 QC chemist / Officer shall check the following points before sampling.

5.4.3 QC chemist / Officer shall ensure that the sampling points are properly identified.
5.4.4 Storage tanks and distribution loops should be under re circulation during sampling.
5.4.5 QC chemist / Officer shall wear the thermal resistant gloves to safeguard from hot water.
5.4.6 QC chemist / Officer shall fully open the valve of sampling point/ user point.

5.4.7 Drain the water for at least 2 minutes.
5.5 Collection of sample for Chemical Analysis



5.5.1 QC chemist / Officer shall hold the sampling bottle at bottom and open the cap.

5.5.2 Rinse the bottle for at least thrice with the water and collect the sample in bottle without leaving air

space & caped properly specified for chemical analysis. Collect the sample for microbiology testing in separate bottle.
5.6 Identification of the bottles
5.6.1 Details should be mentioned on the sampling bottles as per water sampling label

5.7 Distribution of samples
5.7.1 QC chemist / Officer shall bring the entire sample lab for analysis.
5.7.2 Microbiologist/chemist should enter the sampling details in water sampling register & allocate AR no.
WW/SSS.
Where, WW stand for type of water for e.g.
Purified water : PW
Raw water : RW
Treated water : TW
WFI Water : WFI
SSS : Stands for serial numbers starts from 001
5.7.3 Hand over the samples to quality control analytical & microbiological division for chemical & microbiological analysis.
5.7.4 Follow the Standard Testing Procedure for Raw water, Purified water & Treated water.
5.8 Documentation
5.8.1 Document sampling details & their test results in respective formats from Format
5.8.2 We have release purified water and WFI water on partially basis for description, pH & conductivity test only to run the production activity.
