sop for Air Handling Unit AHU

OBJECTIVE :
1.1 To lay down the procedure for Operation of Air Handling Unit

2.0. SCOPE :

2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Operation of Air Handling Unit situated at abc company.

3.0. RESPONSIBILITY :

3.1 Operator Engineering Department shall be responsible for operation of Air Handling Unit.
3.2 Officer/Executive Engineering Department shall be responsible for to verify the proper operation and to take corrective action if any operational deviation

4.0. ACCOUNTABILITY :

4.1 Head Engineering Department shall be responsible for compliance of SOP.

5.0. PROCEDURE :

5.1. PRIMARY CHECKS:
5.1.1. Ensure that chilled water inlet and outlet valves are open.
5.1.2. Ensure that chilled water outlet temperature is not more than 9ºC and pump outlet pressure is not less than 1.5 Kg/cm².
5.1.3. Ensure that the setting of supply air damper and return air damper of AHU are as per the mark at the time of validation.
5.1.4. Ensure that the condensate drain valve is open.
5.2. STARTING PROCEDURE:
5.2.1. Switch `On’ the mains.

5.2.2. Check the blower for any abnormal noise and vibrations and rectify it, if required.
5.3. MONITORING OF PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL ACROSS SUPPLY PLENUM FILTER.
5.3.1 Check and record the manometer reading of the associated unit. It should read 8-35 mm WC. In case the manometer reading is above 35 mm WC, the filter is due for cleaning. In case the gauge reads below 8 mm WC, inform to the Engineering Head for corrective action.
5.3.2 Record the above data once in a day in Annex –I.
5.4. SHUT OFF PROCEDURE:
5.4.1 Switch ‘Off ’ the mains.
5.5 FUMIGATION AND DEFUMIGATION
5.5.1. After getting instruction from Parenteral department for fumigation activity, EM operator shall switch off AHU and close fresh air damper and then inform to Parenteral department. EM operator shall be filled the column ‘Before Fumigation’ of Annex-II.
5.5.2. After AHU shut off , operator EM dept shall inform to Parenteral Department Officer/Operator that AHU has been shut off.
5.5.3. Parenteral Officer/Operator shall carry out the fumigation activity as per SOP NO:1SP-043.
5.5.4. After completion of fumigation activity, Parenteral department shall inform to EM department. EM dept shall run the AHU for 5 minute and then switch OFF the AHU. operator EM dept shall fill ‘During Fumigation’ column of Annex-II.
5.5.5. On Next day in the morning as per production schedule , Parenteral department shall inform to EM dept to switch on the AHU and to open the fresh air damper for de-fumigation purpose.
5.5.6. Operator EM department shall switch on AHU and open the fresh air damper. Operator EM dept shall fill ‘De-fumigation’ column of Annex-II.
5.5.7. For each activity i.e. before fumigation, during fumigation and de-fumigation operator/officer EM department shall ensure that the damper of recirculation air is open.
