sop for Operation and regeneration of softener plant
To lay down a procedure for the Operation and regeneration of Softener Plant.
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for Operation and regeneration of Softener Plant to be followed at formulation plants
3.1 Officer / Executive Engineering shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee should be responsible for compliance of this SOP.

Pre start up
5.1 Check the raw water supply “ON” condition.
5.2 Check the softener multiport valve in service mode.
5.3 Check the drain valve is “closed” position
5.4 Check the SMBS solution tank label f it is not sufficient then prepares the solution as per
6.0 Start up
6.1 Open valve number 17 by using SCADA manual mode.
6.2 After start the softener check the SMBS dosing pump should be start condition.
6.3 Check the hardness of soft water is less then 5PPM when it will be more then 5PPM start the regeneration as per SOP
6.4 Maintain the softener operation record as per Annexure-I.
7.0 Regeneration procedure of softener
7.1 Stop the softener by SCADA.
7.2 Change the position of multiport valve at back wash mode.
7.3 Before starting the regeneration carry out the back wash of softener 15 minute.
7.4 Add 100 kg salt in 400 litter filtered water in the soft water regeneration tank.
7.5 Mix the contents by SS rod.
7.6 Change the position of multiport valve back wash mode to regeneration mode.
7.7 Open the valve number 17 by SCADA.
7.8 Inject the salt for 30-40 minute.
7.9 After inject the solution change the position multiport valve regeneration mode to rinse mode.
7.10 Rinse the water till the hardness of water reached below 5PPM.
7.11 If found hardness of water below 5 PPM then transferred the water storage tank to changed
multiport valve position rinse mode to service mode.
