To lay down a procedure Operation of Pure Steam Generator
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for Pure Steam Generator to be followed at formulation plants
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/ designee shall be responsible for the compliance of this SOP.

5.1 Pre-Start Up
5.1.1 Ensure the boiler steam available to run the PSG in the range of 4 to 6 kg/cm².
5.1.2 Ensure the purified water (feed water) 6 to 7 kg/cm² is available.
5.1.3 Ensure the compressed air pressure 4to6 kg/cm².
5.1.4 Ensure the condensate is removed at initial start up of PSG.
5.2.1 Switch “ON” the Main supply line.
5.2.2 Open the Steam valve and remove the condensate.
5.2.3 Open the valve of compressed air and ensure the pressure in between 4 to 6 kg/cm².
5.2.4 Open the purified water line valve.
5.2.5 Open the main steam valve after removing of condensate let the steam enters to 1st column and remove the condensate by using the valve for 1 minute.
5.2.6 Ensure the pressure of steam at 1st column from 5 to 8 kg/cm².
5.2.7 Select the “AUTO” switch and machine gets started.
5.2.8 Observe the PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) while running the machine.
5.2.9 If any parameter does not match than press the ACK button and get it rectified the problem and continue the operation.
5.2.10 If required adjust the Purified water flow in range of 200 to 250 liter per hour by using the knob at flow meter device.
5.2.11 Open the valve of PSG outlet to supply the Pure Steam in DPI Block.
5.2.12 Record the observations in provided format as Annexure – 1.
5.3.1 Ensure the conductivity of Purified water is within limit of < 5µs/cm.
5.3.2 Ensure the conductivity of Pure Steam is within the limit of < 1µs/cm.
