To lay down a procedure for testing of chlorine contents in water.
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for testing of chlorine contents in water to be followed at formulation plants
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.

5.1 Take 50 ml of water sample in a test jar.
5.2 Add 5 ml of “chlorotex” reagent into this water.
5.3 Mix the contents thoroughly, allow to stand for 1 minute and observe the colour as
mentioned on the Colour chart given on the reagent bottle.
5.4 If the colour is white milky fluorescent, No Chlorine is present.
5.5 If the colour is Light Pink, chlorine concentration is 0.1 ppm.
5.6 If the colour is Medium Pink, chlorine concentration is 0.2 ppm.
5.7 If the colour is Dark Pink, chlorine concentration is 0.5 ppm.
5.8 If the colour is Light Blue, chlorine concentration is 0.6 ppm.
5.9 If the colour is Medium Blue, chlorine concentration is 0.8 ppm.
5.10 If the colour is Dark Blue, chlorine concentration is 1.0 ppm.
5.11 If chlorine is more then1 PPM, Take 10 ML Chlorinated water in 90 ml distilled water/
Purified water for dilution (1: 10). Take 5 ml chlorinated water & add 0.5 ml Chlorotex.
Reagent. Keep for 2 to 3 minutes. Match the colour
Chlorine (in PPM) = Chlorotex Reading x 10
