sop for Operation of Multi Column Distillation Plant
To lay down a procedure for Operation Multi Column Distillation Plant.
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for Multi Column Plant Distillation Plant.
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee shall be responsible for compliance of this SOP.

5.1 Pre-Start Up
5.1.1 Ensure the following parameters are programmed as below
• Pre-heating Time = 060 sec
• Purging disorder 1 = 300 sec
• Purging hold = 25 sec
• Purging disorder 2 = 600 sec
• Venting hold = 15 sec
• Venting off time = 300 sec
• Hooter enable = 060 sec
• Initial dumping = 060 sec
5.1.2 Ensure the incoming boiler steam pressure is in the range of 3 to 5 kg/cm².
5.1.3 Ensure the compressed air pressure in the range of 3 to 6 kg/cm².
5.1.4 Ensure the purified water pressure in the range of gauge 4 to 7 kg/cm²
5.2 Starting Procedure
5.2.1 Auto Mode
5.2.2 Open the steam valve and remove the condensate from line.
5.2.3 Open the air regulator valve of compressed air to achieve the required pressure.
5.2.4 Open the purified water valve to achieve the required pressure
5.2.5 Switch ON the main switch from panel to ON position in AUTO Mode
5.2.6 The process gets started one by one in auto mode till the WFI gets start to produce and will be continued till any parameter goes out of range.
5.2.7 If any parameter goes out of range hooter will start than press the ACK button from PLC and rectify the displayed observation.
5.2.8 Record the details in provided format and get it cross checked by officer production OR concerned Engineer/Officer.
5.3 Manual Operation
5.3.1 Open the steam valve and remove the condensate from line.
5.3.2 Open the air regulator valve of compressed air to achieve the required pressure.
5.3.3 Open the purified water valve to achieve the required pressure.
5.3.4 Switch ON the main switch from panel to ON position in Manual Mode.
5.3.5 Switch ON the venting valve followed by purging valve and than dumping valve.
5.3.6 Switch ON cooling pump ON.
5.3.7 Switch ON feed pump ON.
5.3.8 Observe the indicators provided on Machine Panel.
5.3.9 Record the observations in provided formats.
5.3.10 Observe the on-line conductivity limits are for purified water <5 µs/cm and for water for injection <1 µs/cm.
