sop for Cleaning of Water tanks
To lay down a procedure for the cleaning of water tanks.
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable procedure involved in the cleaning of water tanks to be followed at formulation plants
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee shall be responsible for the compliance of this SOP.

5.1 Put the “UNDER CLEANING” board on the water tank and inform to all the Concerned.
5.2 Remove the cover from the man hole and drain the water tank by using the service pumps.
5.3 Enter the water tank with the help of ladder.
5.4 Dry the sump area by using lint free cloth.
5.5 Scrub all the inner surfaces of the tank.
5.6 Take fresh water again in the tank and wash thoroughly by using lint free cloth.
5.7 Mopping the tank by 2% Sodium hypo chlorite soloution.
5.8 Start the fresh water supply from the bore well by starting the bore well as per SOP No. ER/001and Fill the tank up to level. And check the free chlorine outlet of tank.
5.9 Remove the “UNDER CLEANING” board and cover the man hole with metal sheet cover and seal the edges by providing cement mortar.
5.10 Clean the water tank every 3 months.
