Cleaning of Over Head Water Tanks HDPE
To lay down a procedure for the Cleaning of Over Head Water Tanks (HDPE)
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for Cleaning of Over Head Water Tanks to be followed at formulation plants
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee shall be responsible for the compliance of this SOP.

5.1 Put the “UNDER CLEANING” board on the over head tank and inform to all the
5.2 Close the inlet valve of the tank.
5.3 Drain the over head water tank by opening the drain valve.
5.4 Start the fresh water supply by opening the inlet valve.
5.5 Fill the tank and make up the volume to 25% of the volume of the tank.
5.6 Prepare 5% NaOCl Solution.
5.7 Wipe all the inner surface of tank by lint free cloth and drain the water.
5.8 Fill the water and clean all the inner surface of the tank to remove the NaOCl Solution
traces and again drain the water.
5.9 Fill the water in tank by opening the inlet valve and take in operation.
5.10 Remove the “UNDER CLEANING” board.
5.11 Clean the over head tank every 6 months.
