Preparation of Sodium Hydroxide Solution
1.0 OBJECTIVE :
1.1 To lay down the procedure for the Preparation of Sodium Hydroxide Solution.
2.0. SCOPE :
2.1 This procedure is applicable for the Preparation of Sodium Hydroxide Solution
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY :
3.1 Operator Engineering Department shall be responsible for the Preparation of Sodium Hydroxide Solution.
3.2 Officer/Executive Engineering Department shall be responsible for to verify the proper preparation and to take corrective action if any operational deviation.
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY :
4.1 Head Engineering Department shall be responsible for the compliance of SOP.
5.0 PROCEDURE :
5.1 Ensure before starting the preparation of NaOH solution purified water tank should have filled completely.
5.2 Switch off the purified water generation system from HMI.
5.3 Chemical shall be prepared at daily basis.
5.4 Clean the dosing tank with purified water.
5.5 Prepare 2 % of Sodium Hydroxide solution.
5.6 Take Sodium Hydroxide Qty according to assay in 25 liters of purified water completely.
5.7 Calculation of NaOH DOSING: –
Basis : 6.0 m3/hr.
PPM of NaOH : 8.0 PPM
Concentration of Solution : 2%
Pump Capacity : 6 LPH
Type of Pump : Electronic Dosing Pump
Tank Capacity : 50 Liters
Set the Dosing pump : 40%
5.8 Prepare Solution = Qty of Required Solution X % of Solution to be made

= 25 X 2
= 0.51 kg
5.8 Use safety goggle and mask while preparing the solution.
