procedure for chlorination of raw water
1.0 OBJECTIVE :
1.1 To lay down a procedure for chlorination of raw water.
2.0. SCOPE :
2.1 This procedure is applicable to raw water store in underground raw water storage tank situated at Pharma Dekho
3.0. RESPONSIBILITY :
3.1 Operator Engineering Department shall be responsible for preparation of chlorine solution and checking chlorine dosage and record the same in log book.
3.2 Officer/Executive Engineering Department shall be responsible for assurance of proper dosing and to take corrective action if any deviation.
4.0. ACCOUNTABILITY :
4.1 Head Engineering Department shall be accountable for compliance of SOP.
5.0. PROCEDURE :
5.1 SOLUTION PREPARATION:
5.1.1 Prepare the solution on daily basis.
5.1.2 Take 10 liters 4 % sodium hypochlorite solution in chemical dosing tank and add 10-liter potable water.
5.1.3 Mix the solution with cleaned SS stirrer.
5.1.4 Sodium hypo chlorite tank is connected with inlet tube of dosing pump is connect with sensor as this sensor installed in raw water pipe line.
5.4 METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF RESIDUAL FREE CHLORINE BY CHLORINE TEST KIT.
5.4.1 Take 25 ml. of chlorinated water into the test jar.
5.4.2 Add half a micro-spoon (80-90 mg) of Reagent – A.
5.4.3 If pink color appears free chlorine is present in the sample. If not appear free chlorine is absent in the sample.
5.4.4 Adds Reagent –B drop by drop till the pink colour is discharged. Shake the jar after the addition of each drop.
5.4.5 Count the number of drops while adding. Each drop of Reagent B = 0.1 ppm of chlorine.
