sop for Operation of Chiller and Pumps
1.0 OBJECTIVE :
1.1 To lay down a procedure for operation of Chiller and pumps.
2.0. SCOPE :
2.1 This procedure is applicable to operation of Chiller and pumps situated at Pharma Dekho.
3.0. RESPONSIBILITY :
3.1 Engineering deptt. Operator shall be responsible for the operation of chiller and pumps.
3.2 Officer/Executive Engineering Department shall be responsible for to verify the operation chiller and to take corrective action if any operational deviation
4.0. ACCOUNTABILITY :
4.1 Head Engineering Department shall be accountable for compliance of SOP.
5.0. PROCEDURE :
5.1 PRE –OPERATION CHECK LIST:-
5.1.1 All the refrigerant line, pumps valves shall be opened.
5.1.2 Check supply voltage in three phases.
5.1.3 Heaters shall be operated for atleast 24 hrs. prior to start up.
5.2 STARTING PROCEDURE:-
5.2.1 Start the Chilled water pumps.
5.2.2 Turn the RUN /STOP selector switch of compressor to “RUN” position.
5.2.3 Once the water flow in condenser and the liquid flow in evaporator are achieved. Check the temperature of chilled water and compare against set point.
5.2.4 The unit shall be in automatic mode to meet system demand based on set points stored in controller.
5.2.5 After reaching steady operation and leaving chilled water temperature shall be at required set temperature, check the refrigerant liquid sub cooling (40C – 60C), liquid line sight glass (shall be free from flashing) and suction super heat (50C – 70C).
5.2.6 To reduce the superheat, turn the adjusting stem counter clockwise and to increase the superheat, turn the
adjusting stem anti clockwise.
5.2.7 Take reading of every four hour in Annex-I.
5.3 STOPPING PROCEDURE:-
5.3.1 Turn the RUN/STOP switch to “STOP” position.
5.3.2 Each circuit shall be pump down and the respective compressor to “STOP” position.
5.3.3 “STOP” the condenser water pumps and evaporator /chiller liquid pumps.
