1.0 OBJECTIVE
1.1 To describe the procedure for cleaning, usage and destruction of filter pad and cartridge filter.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure is applicable for filter pad and cartridge filter present in the production Liquid department.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Operator – To perform the procedure.
3.2 Officer production – To ensure that the operation is being performed in compliance with the
SOP.
3.3 IPQA person – To ensure in-process checks, and counter check that the Compliance is in line with SOP

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Cleaning and usage of canvas pad, cartridge filter and destruction procedure as per format no
5.1.1 Check and ensure the cleanliness and availability of accessories used for cleaning Nylon brush, Nylon scrubber, Lint free cloth, Gloves, Clean polythene bag.
5.1.2 Once filtration completes, Dismantle the Filter press & collect canvas pad in upright Position in separate in SS container.
5.1.3 Dip the canvas pad/ cartilage filter 40 liter purified water for 10 minutes.
5.1.4 Remove the hyflow super cell bed on each canvas pad with the help of nylon scrubber.
5.1.5 Dip the canvas pad/ cartilage filter in 40 liter hot purified water (80 to 850c) for 10 minutes.
5.1.6 Alloy canvas pad/ cartilage filter to dry and ripe with clean polybag with status label. And above cleaned canvas pad/ cartilage filter should used within 72 hours.
5.1.7 After 72 hours canvas pad/ cartilage filter should be sent to maintenance department for destruction with signed destruction label
5.1.8 One set of canvas filter pad and cartilage filter used for NMT 10 thousand liter bulk filtration.
5.2 Storage Of Unused Canvas Pads
5.2.1 Store received /unused canvas pads in Poly bags having the Status as, Date of Receipt, No of Pads Received.
5.3 Receiving of indent of canvas pad and cartilage filter
5.3.1 Pore Size of canvas pad should be 10-12 µ.
5.3.2 Peripheral Diameter of Canvas filter should be at least 5 cm large than plat & frame of Filter press assembly.
5.3.3 Inner pore Diameter of Canvas pad should be equal or less than the inner diameter of filter plate So that it allows tight fitment with Filter press outlet couplings /stackers (Inlet couplings/Stacker in case of zero hold filter press).
5.3.4 Non shredding canvas pad, Periphery & inner Pore should be stitched with help of non Shredding clothes.
6.0 TRAINING
6.1 Trainer: Department Head.
6.2 Trainee: Production, Quality Assurance and Operator person.
6.3 Period: one hour or as per required.
7.0 DISTRIBUTION
7.1 One set of Master copy and one set of Controlled copy submit the QA department.
