1.0 Objective 
To lay down a procedure for the operation of AHU system, Ventilation& Exhaust System.
2.0 Scope
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for the operation of all Air Handling Unit (Make Contec Air Flow) to be followed at formulation plants
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee shall be responsible for the compliance of this SOP.

5.0 Procedure.
5.1 Check for availability of power supply in all AHU main panel and individual AHU Panel.
5.2 Check that the doors are completely closed to avoid any leakage of air.
5.3 Check that the fresh air damper.
5.4 Check that the CHW (chilled water) inlet and CHW outlet.
5.5 Ensure that 3-way valve in return circuit of chilled water is adequately opened and by-pass valve is closed. By pass valve is operated in case only when 3-way valve is taken for preventive maintenance/breakdown maintenance.
5.6 Check that the chiller plant is continuously operated for provision of chilled water to the AHU at not more than 20ºC.
5.7 Check that the pressure gauges and temperature gauges are properly mounted.
5.8 After ensuring all above points. Switch on the AHU from the AHU panel.
5.9 Check Magnehalic gauge readings for pressure difference across pre filter (4 to 8 mm WC) and fine filters (8 to 12 mm WC) and note down the reading in log book.
5.10 Check Magnehalic gauge readings for pressure difference across HEPA filter (25 to 50 mm WC) and note down the reading in log book.
5.11 If readings are below limit replace filter and if it is above limit clean the filter.
5.12 Before shutdown of the AHU ensure the pressure difference across pre filter (4 to 8 mm WC) and fine filters (8 to 12 mm WC) are maintained and record the same in AHU operation log.
5.13 If the area is under cleaning temperature, RH & differential pressure shall not be recorded at the time. Production in charge will ensure that the required environment condition are maintained before the start of production which shall be recorded in the BMR, in case of any deviation he will inform engineering department immediately for corrective action.
5.14 At the start of shift / day, AHU of all Corridors shall be started first. Afterwards other AHUs shall be started. In case of power failure and after its restoration through DG power ensure that AHUs of all passage / corridor starts in auto mode first. This is to prevent cross contamination. All other AHU’S are then started one by one in manual mode of operation. Production in-charge will ensure that the required environmental parameters are achieved before re-commencement of production activity. In dry powder injection, all AHUs will start in auto mode. HVAC operator will log the stop and start status of AHU’s in Annexure-1
5.15 In case AHU fails to start after power restoration due to any reason/fault, HVAC operator will immediately informed Engineering Manager who will confirm precautionary measures to production department. After rectification of fault, HVAC engineer will inform the production charge so that the production activities can be re-started again.
