1.0 Objective 
To lay down a procedure for the Preventive Maintenance for the Fluid Bed Dryer.
2.0 Scope
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for the Preventive Maintenance of Fluid Bed Dryers to be followed at formulation plants
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee should be responsible for the compliance of this SOP.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 General Conditions
5.1.1 Refer the master plan of preventive maintenance.
5.1.2 Equipment shall be available for preventive maintenance.
5.1.3 Clean oil / grease stains & remove unwanted material, spares after completion of work.
5.2 Precautions
5.2.1 Use necessary safety wears, while doing the work.
5.2.2 Ensure covers & guards are properly fixed
5.3 Procedure For Preventive Maintenance Of Fluid Bed Dryer
5.3.1 Ensure that electrical supply is in off position in main panel and display “Under Maintenance” Board on the panel board and inform all the concerned.
5.3.2 Operator or above has to ensure and verify the check points for the preventive maintenance as shown in the annex – 1,2,3 & 4 of this SOP.
5.3.3 After the completion of preventive maintenance, check the machine for smooth operation.
5.3.4 Remove “Under Maintenance” Board on the panel board after completion of the Maintenance.
5.3.5 The operator / technician who perform the job will enter his name / sign in “Done By” Column and responsible Engineer/ Officer and Officer – Production will put sign in “Checked by” column.
5.3.6 Quarterly maintenance will include the jobs of monthly maintenance, half yearly Maintenance will include the jobs of monthly and quarterly maintenance and year Maintenance will include the jobs of monthly, quarterly, half yearly and Yearly Maintenance.
5.4 Monthly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
5.4.1 Check and tight the foundation bolt of bottom body all exposed nut and bolts.
5.4.2 Clean the FBD filters as per respective SOP.
5.4.3 Check all the roller of product container trolley for any jam problem. Change the roller bearings, if needed.
5.4.4 Tighten all the electrical connections & clean the electrical panel with hand blower.
5.4.5 Check all pneumatic pipes and valves for any leakage of air, if found damaged, replace the same.
5.4.6 Check the filter bag-supporting hanger (hook) for any damage.
5.4.7 Check the supporting mounting bolt of lowering cylinder of filter bag housing.
5.4.8 Check all clamping bolts of ducting system (Inlet & Outlet ducting).
5.4.9 Check the motor terminal connections and tighten the same
5.4.10 Check all the clamps of product container and tight them, if required.
5.4.11 Check the following gasket for any damage: Gasket between retarding chamber & product container, Gasket for explosion flap, “O” ring for butterfly valve.
5.5 Quarterly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
5.5.1 Check the filter bag shaking cylinder for any leakage of air. (If required, air seal is to be changed).
5.5.2 Check the pneumatic cylinder for any air leakage. (if required, replace pneumatic Cylinder piston “o” ring & sealing gasket).
5.5.3 Check & clean the steam strainers at inlet & outlet.
5.5.4 Check & clean the steam traps.
5.5.5 Check the proper Earthing.
5.6 Half yearly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
5.6.1 Check and tighten the blower motor terminal connection.
5.6.2 Check the blower impeller for proper balancing.
5.6.3 Check the entire solenoid valve with coil. (If required, change the solenoid valve & coil).
5.7 Yearly preventive maintenance is to be carried out as per the following check points:
5.7.1 Check the main switch, fuse & switch contacts of test lines for continuity.
5.7.2 Check interlocking of process timer.
5.7.3 Check pressure relief flap.
5.7.4 Check all electrical connections (control panel, all motors,) for any loose Connections, burned contacts, signs of overheated wires, tighten/replace the same.

1 Before starting Preventive maintenance of FBD “switch off” the panel board. Ok/Not Ok
2 Put the board of “Under Maintenance “ on the panel board Ok/Not Ok
3 Check and tight the foundation bolt of bottom body all exposed nut and bolts. Ok/Not Ok
4 Clean the FBD filters as per respective SOP. Ok/Not Ok
5 Check all the roller of product container trolley for any jam problem. Change the roller bearings, if needed. Ok / Not ok
6 Check all pneumatic pipes and valves for any leakage of air, if found damaged, replace. Ok/Not Ok

12 Check all the clamp of product container and tight them, if required Ok/Not Ok
13 Check the following gasket for any damage: Gasket between retarding chamber & product container, Gasket for explosion flap,“O” ring for butterfly valve. Ok/Not Ok
14 . Check the filter bag shaking cylinder for any leakage of air. (If required, air seal is to be changed). Ok/Not Ok
15 Check the pneumatic cylinder for any air leakage. (If required, replace pneumatic Cylinder piston “O” ring & sealing gasket) Ok/Not Ok
16 Check & clean the steam strainers and steam trap at inlet & outlet. Ok/Not Ok
17 Clean the FBD filters as per respective SOP Ok/Not Ok
18 Remove the board of “Under Maintenance” on the panel board Ok/Not Ok
