1.0 Objective
To lay down a Procedure for Calibration of Temperature Controller
2.0 Scope
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for Calibration of Temperature Controller to be followed at formulation plants
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Officer / Executive Engineering shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee shall be responsible for the compliance of this SOP.

5.0 Procedure
5.1 Precautions
5.1.1 Master instruments used for calibration should be calibrated and should have its calibration certificate.
5.2 Procedure for Calibration of Temperature Controller.
5.2.1 The Unit under Calibration (UUC) shall be properly cleaned & physically inspected for any deterioration.
5.2.2 The Calibration Standard and the UUC (in case of digital type) shall be warmed up by giving a proper power
supply or the warm up period recommended by the manufacturer, whichever is more.
The Calibration Standard and the UUC shall then be inserted into the inserts provided on the Calibration Equipment.
5.2.3 It shall be ensured that both the Calibration Standard and the UUC are inserted into
the Calibration Equipment minimum up to their immersion lengths.
5.2.4 To have the ideal effect of the temperature inside the Calibration Standard, both
the Calibration Standard and the UUC shall be inserted into the Calibration Equipment at equal depths.
5.2.5 The temperature and humidity conditions shall be noted.
5.2.6 The scale of the UUC shall then be divided into minimum three points or as specified by the client.
5.2.7 When the whole system is ready desired temperature shall be sourced to the Calibration Standard
and the UUC from the Calibration Equipment.
5.2.8 The readings on UUC shall then be compared with that of the Calibration Standard
the observations shall be recorded in the calibration data sheet only after attaining the temperature
stability in the Calibration Equipment.
5.2.9 If the observed readings do not comply with the specified accuracy of the UUC, then zero and
span settings shall be done, if possible, by sourcing the respective temperature to the Calibration System
and repeating the steps 5.2.7, 5.2.8 and 5.2.9 as mentioned above & the observations shall be recorded in the calibration data sheet.
