1.0 Objective
To lay down a procedure for the replacement of the HVAC filters.
2.0 Scope
This Standard Operating Procedure is applicable for replacement of the HVAC, APU, LAF & RLAF filters installed at formulation plants
3.0 Responsibility
3.1 Engineering Officer / Executive shall be responsible for the execution of this procedure.
3.2 Engineering Manager shall be responsible for the implementation of this SOP.
3.3 Head QA/designee shall be responsible for the compliance of this SOP.
4.0 Abbreviations and Definitions
SOP : Standard Operating Procedure etc.
QA : Quality assurance
LAF : Laminar Air Flow
RLAF : Reverse Laminar Air Flow
ER : Engineering
APU : Air processing units
AHU : Air Handling Unit
5.0 Procedure
For 5 and 10 micron filters
5.1 Ensure that the certificates are available during the filter replacement.
5.2 Replace the filters when found damaged during operation, filter cleaning or when differential pressure across the filter exceeds after repeated cleaning or when differential pressure across the filter found very low,
5.3 Fit the new filters in AHU, LAF, RLAF & APUs wherever required and update the replacement record with filter details.
5.4 As and when filters received, numbering to be done as per following procedure.
5.4.1 Put the numbers in the filters as per AA/BBB
Where AA—Filter type (Primary- PR, Secondary- SE, HEPA-HP, Return Riser RR)
BBB— filter number
5.5 During replacement of the filters numbering shall be done as per following procedure.
ID / XXX / AHUYY / AA / BB
XXX : Block
YY : AHU No.
AA : Filter type
BBB : Filter Number
5.6 Take the reading for the differential pressure across the filters before the filter replacement and after filter replacement and ensure the differential pressure across the filter values as per acceptance criteria.
For HEPA filters
5.7 In the following conditions the HEPA filters need to be replaced.
5.7.1 If differential pressure across HEPA filter exceeds beyond the limit.
5.7.2 If differential pressure across HEPA filters found very low.
5.7.3 If fails in integrity test during validation.
5.7.4 If fails in air velocity test.
5.7.5 If area fails in non viable particle count test.
5.7.6 Any physical damaged.
5.8 For replacement of the HEPA filter following procedure to be followed.
5.8.1 Put the “Filter replacement tag” during the replacement process in respective AHU, LAF, RLAF, APU and also in area.
5.8.2 Remove the damaged filter and keep it in polybag.
5.8.3 Keep the new HEPA filter to that area and fit the HEPA filter in place.
5.8.4 Ensure the proper fitment of the HEPA filter in same area.
5.8.5 Again perform the validation tests as per master validation plan for external agency.
5.8.6 Ensure there shall not be any activity in the respective area.
5.9 Documented the same in Annexure -1.
